    Why it happens now

Why postpartum hair loss shows up months after birth

Nobody warns you about this part. Your baby is three or four months old, things are finally settling, and then the hair starts coming out in the shower. It is not something you did, and it is not the start of something permanent. It is a hair cycle catching up.

    • Pregnancy paused the fallHigh estrogen kept more hairs in the growth phase than usual. That is why hair often feels its thickest in the third trimester.
    • Birth released them all at onceEstrogen drops after delivery, and the hairs that were held back move into the resting phase together instead of a few at a time.
    • The fall comes three months laterA resting hair takes about three months to shed. That delay is why it hits around month three or four, not in the first weeks.
    • Reserves are running lowPregnancy, recovery, nursing and short nights all draw on the same nutrients. Hair is not essential tissue, so it is where a short supply shows first.
    • The scalp gets the least careHair up in a clip, more dry-shampoo days, less time in the shower. The skin the new growth comes out of is the last thing anyone has time for.

The full month-by-month picture, with no products in it, is in our postpartum hair loss timeline.

    Benefits, product by product

A postpartum hair supplement, and the scalp serum that goes with it

Two products, two jobs. One brings in what hair is built from, the other looks after the skin it grows out of. Every line below has the ingredient that produces it written underneath.

Dajesa Hair Nutraceutical bottle, 120 capsules

    Hair Nutraceutical

A daily hair supplement. It covers the nutrients hair is made from while your body is busy with everything else.

    What it changes

    • Your body gets what it needs to make keratin, the protein every new strand is made of.

      Biotin, 3,000 mcg

    Recommended usage

Four capsules daily, preferably with a meal. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Every day, with breakfast or lunch.

Four capsules sounds like a lot. Most women take two with breakfast and two with lunch, which is also easier on the stomach.

    • 120 capsules · one month
    • Dietary supplement
    • 11 vitamins & minerals
    • 500 mg collagen peptides
    • No iron

The same capsules and the same serum we sell on their own, in the same size. One of each in the one-month option, three of each in the three-month. The only thing that changes is what you pay per bottle.

    Great for

Great for every stage of postpartum hair loss, from the first clumps to the new growth phase

If you recognise yourself in two of these, this is the routine. They are all the same thing seen from a different month: a hair cycle resetting, and a body with less to spare than usual.

If this is where you are

    • It just startedTwo to four months in, more hair in the brush than ever.
    • At the peakClumps in the shower drain, hair on every sweater.
    • Growing backShort new hairs at the temples that will not lie flat.
    • Baby number twoYou know what is coming and want to start early.

    If this is your hair

    • Thin templesThe hairline looks further back than it used to.
    • A wider partMore scalp showing where you part it.
    • Always in a clipUp all day, every day, for months now.
    • Dry-shampoo daysWashing less than ever, because there is no time.

Not the right call if you are pregnant, or nursing without having checked with your doctor. And if the shedding is still heavy a year after birth, comes in patches, or comes with fatigue, see your doctor: thyroid and iron are worth checking first.

    Inside, then outside

Your postpartum hair routine, in two steps

One step with a meal, one step at the scalp. Neither replaces the other: the capsules bring in what hair is built from, the serum looks after where it grows. Both fit inside a day that already has no spare time.

    1. Dajesa Hair Nutraceutical bottle
      1

      With a meal

      Step one · Nourish

      Hair Nutraceutical

Take four capsules of the Hair Nutraceutical a day with food. Two with breakfast and two with lunch is how most women do it. It covers the vitamins, minerals and peptides new hair is built from.
    2. Dajesa Scalp Serum bottle
      2

      Once a day

      Step two · Care

      Scalp Serum

Apply two full droppers of the Scalp Serum to your scalp and massage for five minutes. During a feed, before bed, whenever there are five minutes. Water-based, non-greasy, no rinse.

    The first twelve weeks

What changes, week by week, once the routine starts

Your hair cycle resets on its own schedule, usually by six to twelve months after birth. The routine does not change that schedule. It changes what the new growth has to work with while it happens.

    Weeks 1 to 2

    The routine settles in

Nothing visible yet, and nothing should be. Hair grows about a centimeter a month. What you notice first is the scalp: cooler, calmer, less itchy on the days you do not wash.

    • Scalp feels fresher between washes
    • Capsules become part of breakfast
    • Five minutes of massage, a few minutes that are yours

    Full formula transparency

Every ingredient, and the job it was put in for

Two products, two jobs. The actives below are on the label of what you receive, with what it does next to it, including the botanicals worth showing your doctor if you are nursing.

    Dajesa Hair Nutraceutical capsules

Step 1 · from the inside

    Hair Nutraceutical

Four capsules a day. 11 vitamins and minerals, 500 mg of collagen peptides and a 460 mg botanical blend.

Tap an active to see what it does

    Dajesa Scalp Serum bottle

Step 2 · at the scalp

    Scalp Serum

Water-based, non-greasy, leave-on. Looks after the skin the new growth comes out of.

Tap an active to see what it does

    And what we left out

    Minoxidil

No drug, so there is no shedding phase to get through and nothing to taper off if you stop.

    Sulfates

Not in the Scalp Serum. Nothing that strips the scalp on the days you do wash.

    Parabens

The serum is preserved with phenoxyethanol and potassium sorbate instead.

    Synthetic fragrance

Nothing added to the serum purely for smell. One less thing on a scalp that is already under stress.

The Scalp Serum is a cosmetic, dermatologist-tested and free of sulfates, parabens and synthetic fragrance. The Hair Nutraceutical is a dietary supplement with bovine collagen and a gelatin capsule. If you are pregnant or nursing, consult your doctor before use.

The scalp step, in somebody else's bathroom

Real customers massaging in the Scalp Serum. The capsules are the less photogenic half of the routine.

    Before you start

No. Postpartum hair loss is a form of telogen effluvium: high estrogen during pregnancy holds extra hairs in the growth phase, and after birth they move into the resting phase together and shed about three months later. It usually starts two to four months after birth and settles by six to twelve months as the cycle resets.

Still deciding? Email support@dajesa.com and our specialists answer within 24 hours.

Give the hair growing in next what it is built from.

The shedding ends on its own schedule, and none of it is your fault. What you can choose is what new hair has to work with: the nutrients from the inside and a cared-for scalp on the outside. Four capsules with a meal, five minutes at the scalp.
